Re: In 2 bands and had 6 gigs this year.

My crying jag is over. I've had a lot of non-music related stuff in my brain and it started coming out sideways. I would love to do more shows in 2024 than in 2023 but I'll be grateful for whatever I get.

Late NPD. BOSS PH-3

This was a cheap pawn shop impulse buy. My original impression was "meh" and I put it up for sale. Then I started reading up on it and trying some suggested settings and discovered the "meh" was due to user error. Backing off on the Depth and Res knobs made a world of difference....

Re: NPD. Joyo Ultimate Drive

I found a few sites stating there is a mistake on certain versions of these and mine is one of them. A diode's screening was 180° off when the circuit boards were printed and therefore the diode was installed per the screening which means it is backwards. I flipped it around the right way and I thin...

NAD! Hartke time

I just got a used Hartke LH500 from Sam Ash online. I've had a few hours to mess around with it and I love it so far. My Ric through my Sansamp BDDI into the amp and SWR Goliath III sounds great. I'm sure it'll get even better as my ears adjust to it and I tweak some knobs. This should handle any gi...

Old faithful, 80s MIJ P Bass

Pawn shop score along with an Ampeg practice amp 6 or 7 years ago. I replaced the harness, pickguard and bridge. This is on my Lazaras 1971 album and the in progress King Breeze album as well as seeing several open stages, practices and gigs. This and my Ric are my keep forever basses. 1000003057.jpg

DC 580 CH

My phone camera doesn't pick reds up very well. This photo looks like my guitar is solid, fire engine red but it is transparent and not that bright red. So anyway, this was I think $130.00 new. I changed the knobs but it's stock other than that. The tuners may go, I'm undecided on how well they hold...

Re: My other band recorded our first album!

We finished basic tracks tonight and I played three of them on my 1992 Rickenbacker 4003. It plays like a dream and sounded great in the studio and on the rough mix CD.

Finally took this out of its case. Not going back soon.

I love this bass yet I bet today is the first time I played it in six months. My band finished recording our debut album and I played this on three tracks. It's a 1992 4003 and I've had it about 5 years. I love Geddy Lee, Chris Squire and Paul McCartney so I had to get a Ric. It practically plays it...

In 2 bands and had 6 gigs this year.

I'm in two original bands. I've played 6 gigs this year between both of them, so an average of 1 gig every other month. There are plenty of places that support local, original bands around here. So I posted an ad to start or join a classic rock cover band with the focus on frequent, paying gigs. We'...

Re: NGD. Mini Strat

So much for that idea. I sold it 2 days ago. I'd been playing it a lot but one day I swapped it for my Harley Benton SG and neither I nor my girlfriend could hear that much difference so I figured why keep it around. I might sell off some of my other guitars, too. If 3 single coils vs 2 humbuckers =...

in pink! It was $25 used and I couldn't pass it up. The high E tuner was broken so I fixed that, oiled the neck, shined the frets up and put 10s on it. This little sucker jams! I had one years ago and thought it was cool, I spent hours playing this one today with my new Ultimate Drive and some delay...

aka Freekish Blues Alpha Drive. I remember that fiasco on TGP. I found it humorous and infuriating at the same time. Regardless, I wanted something to give my bass some grit and have decent gain for my guitar. This seems to fit the bill but I've only had it few hours. Seems pretty cool and was only ...

Re: Used NPD x2

Update: they aren't paperweights, yay! I cleaned 'em and plugged in, they jam. That phaser seems to be loved or hated on various forums, well I love mine. I haven't tried them with a guitar but I got a cool sound with my bass that sounds "moist".

Used NPD x2

I got 2 used BOSS pedals today for cheap. I'm nowhere near home and didn't get to try them out so I may have 2 paperweights but I'll know tonight.

My other band recorded our first album!

I play bass in a chill surf band, King Breeze, and we recorded our first album 2 days ago. No tunes to post yet since it isn't finished. It's the same studio we practice at so it was a familiar sound and setup. I used my 80s MIJ Fender Precision through the studio's bass stuff. Here's some photos an...

Re: What a morale builder!

None of us are from NY/NJ, I'm from Indiana. Chuck had a band with Jerry Only and Michael Graves comes over and does acoustic stuff now and then. We double bill with The Braineaters a lot and they're a Misfits tribute band. Fun trivial pursuit/degrees of... stuff: I know Chuck Chuck knew Jerry Only ...

Week old NPD. EHX content updated!

Update 11/29/2023: that was short and sweet. I got a BOSS PH-3 cheap at a pawnshop so this is going back. I got my first Electro Harmonix pedal last week, a Small Stone Nano phaser. I've had BOSS and MXRs and clones of Phase 90s and I love the way this sounds. Similar yet different to other phasers ...

Re: What song are you obsessed with right now?

I recently found about these guys and this song inspired me to get a phaser and overdrive for my bass. I'm not learning the song but I sure do crank it a lot. I did figure out a lot of Sheep by Pink Floyd when I got my phaser. 🐑

Re: What Makes Up Your Current Gig Rig?

My rig is undergoing a redo. I had a Bassman 10 but sold it and brought the old rack out. I'm also putting a guitar and bass friendly pedalboard together. The current rig is: SWR Goliath III cab GK MB200 amp MIJ P Bass, Rickenbacker 4003 or Squier P Bass Rack with RackRider, Pitchblack tuner, dbx 16...
