Re: I'm Back! Anybody Miss Me?? :-D
Glad to see you're back, Mossman! Having heard your plight, it makes me wish all the deserving people such as you could leave California for better places. I left there in 2018 to retire in Indiana. I've watched those RV, Skoolie and van life people build their overbuilt toys, knowing just how much ...

Re: Trio + owners : Query
I had one and several years ago and messed with it initially. I just could not seem to make it my thing. I finally put it back in the box and got rid of it during the sell off. I just prefer real musicians I suppose. I thought I may like a looper for an acoustic act but I do not like that either. J...

Re: Trio + owners : Query
Well, it's been more than a year since the last post but I wanted to confess to buying a Trio+. I've had it a few months and somehow regret buying it. I printed out the manual and watched too many tutorials on YooToob, to the point I've become disgusted with it. Even watching a tutorial and followin...

this is why unless I don't care, I watermark my images right the way across the middle of the pic diagonally.

Oh Yeah! That Silvertone has the same sort of brown-burst my Kay Vanguard K102 has. Nice tone from the lipstick tube pickups, too.

Re: Mini HB Mounting Brackets FOUND!
Um, the place many of us love to hate, StewMac, has the mini mounting parts. However, their kit has more than doubled since I bought a pair for my AL-3010SE guitar. Also, anyone that's planning this on a similar Agile or single cut guitar, be ready to do some routing. The pickup routs in my AL neede...

Re: Mini Humbucker Wiring Question
When I converted my Agile 3010SE from P90 to mini-humbuckers, I went with 500K pots and .022uF orange drop caps. Sounds great to me, anyway. I did try some .033uF caps but I didn't like the sound, same with some .015uF caps. Def didn't get that "Woman Tone" with the .015uF caps.

Re: Acoustic bass?
I had a Kala(?) all mahogany Uku-bass that went "Boing-boing-boing" with those silly rubber strings. Actually, any brand of those silly rubber band strings. Gave to a friend, since he really liked it. I now have a Dean acoustic with the figured ash body/top. Looks real pretty but it has no...

Re: Speaker Selection for a Frontman 15R/25R Conversion
So it seems like the consensus is a 25w or 30w rated 1-12 would be the ticket? I currently have a line on a 25R for dirt cheap that looks like it's been in a closet since new. I intend to cut down the cabinet to just tall enough for the Fender logo to look right and make a cab that's a complimentary...

Speaker Selection for a Frontman 15R/25R Conversion
Over on the Squier Talk forum, one of the users converted a Frontman 15R into a head and used a 1-12" cab to go with it. I've been contemplating doing the same with a 15R or 25R (more common) but if I have to make a cab, make it a multi-speaker cab. Something like a 4-6", 4-8" or a 2-...

Re: How many extra tubes do you keep stashed per amp?
I have 2 full sets for my Music Man HD130 bass head. 8 each 6CA7 power tubes, 2 each ECC83S phase inverter tubes. I was only going to get 1 full set so they could be used when the amp gets a cap job and bias set but a possible second MM, a 410 HD130 popped up for sale/trade. going to look at it thi...

Re: Sigh. Botched reissue for Gibson. This time the 70's Les Paul Deluxe
And this is why for now, I'll stick with either Epi LP's, the other higher end LP-styles or build my own. Gibson is driven by bean counters who aren't musicians and only look at the bottom line. My Agile AL3010SE with the GFS mini-humbuckers doesn't weigh too much and now with the upgrades, has bark...

Re: Whats on your work bench? The Agile AL3010SE!
Okay, an interesting complication - the neck pickup route is not deep enough! Uh huh! Well, tomorrow, when I have had some rest, gonna take the Dremel-monster to the poor axe and deepen the route some 3/16" or 4.76mm for you metric types. I have to say, this has been an interesting ride, so fa...

Re: Whats on your work bench?
My Agile AL3010SE is on the bench, getting proper mounts for the GFS mini-humbuckers that I put in it some years back to replace the P90's. I bought the kits from StewMac to do it Gibby-style, rather than GFS style which involves foam and heaven help you to make them sit straight. The neck mounting ...

Re: Soldering is hell
When I was still working, I was a comm tech for a school district. They had this worn-out Weller 15W soldering iron that was the bench iron. The tip was gone, south for the winter (before I arrived at the district) so somebody had found a piece of heavy wire out of a big cable like an MCM650 and thr...

You know, this is just like the adverts where the company is selling acetylene torch tip cleaners for nut files. You can buy barf and struggle with it or pay the man and have a tool that you'll use the rest of your life or be able to resell on when you're done with guitars. I have a set of real nut ...

Re: Can i buy a Warmoth Neck with no finish?
I'll point this out gang ~ if Warmoth says it needs you to apply a finish to be under warranty, tung oil or tru-oil will not cut it. They insist it has to have a "Hard finish" on it. Lacquer, poly, etc. Roasted maple and a few other woods are the exception and they do state which ones don'...
