Re: NGD SX Telecaster

Nice looking guitar.

BTW, that is the normal way for Tele switches to operate. Back (toward bridge) is bridge, middle is both and forward is neck.

Some people put in a four way switch with the extra position putting the two pickups in series which give a sort of humbucker sound.

Re: SX Furian vs Hadean vs Squier

Another vote for the SX. Ash body and far better than the price might indicate. I have one of the much older SX STL-50 Teles. Really nice guitar. Also have an SX ash Thinline Tele that I like a lot. The older one now has Fender Original Vintage pickups and the Thinline has a set of Fender Vintage’64...

Re: How did I let it get so bad...

I am struggling with a decision. Too many guitars, no need to sell them other than they take up space and I want to spend what little free time I have playing instead of tripping over gear. I have too many that I have no interest in keeping long term and would rather get down to a core of my nice s...

Re: Anyone ever mod the SX headstock?

I remember someone cut/sanded the headstock into the traditional fender shape. I don't remember what SX version it was though... FU Major tom - cant go back and search for that...... I have one of the older SX STL-50 (Teles) that had just enough for me to cut it into a normal Fender Tele headstock ...

Re: Ukelele

I have three ukes, a soprano, a concert and a tenor. Never have wanted a baritone because then it sounds more like my nylon string classical than a typical uke tone. Ukes are really fun (and really portable). Another thing I have and really like is a very nice acoustic tenor guitar. (yet one more tu...

I still really like this forum but visit far less than I used to. This place felt like home and was my most visited forum. The changes in the Rondo offerings are a big part of my less frequent visiting. I fondly recall the good old days of The Agile Guitar Forum. Many good memories of some great mem...

Re: SSD in an older computer

Yeah, I should dig up the specs. Pretty sure it's a core i5, 1TB HDD. Maybe I could add RAM too..... Sounds much like the Dell I replaced the HD in with a 1 TB SSD this past summer. Same processor as what you seem to have and same size old HD. Works much better and faster. Also while I was at it I ...

CTS audio for me. Dan Erlewine says in one of his books that linear taper pots have no place in a guitar. I tend to agree.

Re: How To Fix A "Staticky" Pickguard

To do similar on a Strat would require removing the pickguard and place the strip of foil wher it contacts the foil on the pickguard and use a screw from the switch to secure it between the pickguard and switch.

Re: How To Fix A "Staticky" Pickguard

On Teles I just cut a strip of aluminum foil long enough to reach from the foil on the back of the pickguard to the closest screw on the control plate. Remove the control plate and put the strip of foil over the screw hole and replace the screws. Loosen the pickguard and slide the strip of foil unde...

Re: John Birch UK Pickup SNAFU - Advise Please

John Birch? The only time I have heard that name was back in the 50’s and early 60’s. It was an organization named The John Birch Society (far right wing and anti-communist) and in a song named ‘The John Birch Society’ done by The Chad Mitchell Trio back in 1962.

Re: A Jazzmaster for people who hate Jazzmasters? American Special Jazzmaster

Generally speaking the people I grew up listening to who used offsets were playing them because they were cheap and modded them to use TOM bridges and humbuckers or noiseless singles. Very few of them didn't put tape over the switches or remove/modify the traditional wiring in some way. You must ha...

Yes, I did! Did the usual mods and ended up with a very light (sycamore body) guitar that plays great. Mine is the sunburst. Got mine through Ealmart online for 50 some dollars delivered. Hard to beat that.

Re: Happy Fifteenth birthday to my son

That’s a nice idea, but I don’t think I could have done that. I have five sons and by now would have to have written 237 songs for them. They range from 53 down.

Even grandsons would put me near 100 songs. Granddaughters even more.

And then there are the five great grandkids.

Re: Beware MF Trickery

That's messed up. Back in January I think Sweetwater had that big sale on the new Behringer pedals for $19 each. The website at the time said they were out of stock and did not even offer a firm date for delivery. I bought online, and my rep called me the next day to tell me that it wouldn't be ava...

I got my second Pfizer 6 weeks ago (I’m 73). My wife (60) got both hers (also Pfizer) in December and early January. She is a nurse at the hospital I retired from. She volunteered to work the COVID unit when this began last spring and is still doing so working 12 hour shifts. Neither of us had any (...

Acoustics sound FAR better miced than with any electronic system. Speaking from over 60 years of primarily playing and gigging with acoustics. The ones I have heard that sound the best are the K & K Minis with no preamp used.

Those minor flaws wouldn’t have bothered me in the least...on a $3500 Gibson 335 yes, on a lower priced guitar not a bit. I’m not even sure you wouldn’t be able spot flaw under very close inspection with inspection light on the Gibson. Doesn’t show up under normal lighting and from normal viewing di...
