Re: Buddha's mod projects

Epiphone Melody Maker Think this was about $100, got it shortly after they came out. The tuners need replacing but I guess I'll change them next string change. The pickups are strat style but strat covers didn't quite fit but the mustang style did so I went with it. Will probably file the opening a ...

Re: Buddha's mod projects

IYV Mustang Mustang with a Jazz trem was a worthwhile gamble. They were blowing these out on ebay a year or so ago for like 80 bucks. A curveball I wasn't prepared for was the switches being jaguar on on switches not the normal onoffon or ononon/ not sure the technical term. Not crazy about how I wi...

Re: Buddha's mod projects

Wouldn't it be great if these import sellers offered a finished body/neck option? I know I'm not near your numbers (I'm under 150), I really don't need more ways to buy more gear. :P My time hunting bstocks at rondo back in the day made me a sucker for anytime I see a good deal. I miss those days o...

GearIT Thinline style Tele This was about $80 with a coupon on Amazon. I may grab the Sunburst as well. I forgot to add the treble bleed cap so I'll have to do that next time I change the strings. Only cosmetic change was a white p90 cover and a white switch tip. Mods include Cavities shielded 500k ...

Re: Any Peace Sells or Killing Is My Business era Megadeth fans?

I met Dave and the band about a year ago when they came to VA. I made Dave and Kiko both humbuckers for fun, hoping they might use it in a personal guitar at home but I doubt they ever did. Dave was a grumpy dude but the rest of the band was awesome. I had to be brief obviously but I thought the Mus...

The Ceti wasn't around very long which was sad as I thought a more affordable Harm was a great idea but I did manage to snag this baritone version in sunburst as a bstock that I had refinished in a lake placid ish blue

Re: For Trade Gibson 300k Linear long shaft pots

May be interested but the linear taper, not a fan of that either. I think there was a way to add a resistor across 2 of the lugs to emulate a sort of audio taper, will research that. Came across old stock NOS jacks a while back but not wanting to part with them as i use them in pedals. What kind of...

For Trade Gibson 300k Linear long shaft pots

I have about 50 that I'll probably never use. I like the quality and value/300k but I'm not a fan of the linear taper. If anyone has any push pull pots, jacks, or tubes they wanna trade? Kind of a long shot but I had these for harnesses when I had a reverb store so they've been collecting dust, so t...

I think the bigsby version balances better due to the added weight of the bigsby.

I got a few Gretsch's this winter that I'll have to post about eventually.
Adorama had some great deals.
I scored a great one locally with a case.
And a nice one from an old friend here on the forum too.

My SX Furrian has the same control cavity issue. I started to widen it to accommodate full size pots, then gave up because I was worried about destroying the finish. .. FWIW, I use a Dremel style tool and grind the area of the cavity that the full-size pot comes in contact with but only from the bo...

Glarry Tele This was even cheaper than the semi hollow Glarrys, $60 shipped. This one came with a blank headstock. Cutting cost I guess! I've not tried Eart but just a heads up that Firefly uses stainless steel frets now too and they are mostly $200 or cheaper. Any guitar I get under $500 I go in to with the mindset that some work will be required to get it how I like it and I think some folks have had bad luck with them but I have a...
