Re: Favorite Beer poll

I usually like a good hefeweizen or octoberfest, on tap if possible. There's a Brewpub and brewery here in northern Utah called Red Rock. They are small, but always come up with good stuff. They have good seasonal beers, my favorite being Nuevo Leon. It's only for Cinco De Mayo, and only sold at the...

Re: $7 strat neck?? black matte with rosewood board - Amazon

I'm getting consistent tracking updates.

Something is headed this way, and has recently departed a Los Angeles USPS facility.

Re: Thoughts on Allen Eden bodies and necks, or other budget sources

I'll chime in: anything cheap is a crapshoot. Order from a place with an excellent return/exchange policy. I don't have much experience with replacement bodies, but from my research on the subject - you should be prepared to do a lot of final sanding work. The cheaper you go, the more likely you'll ...

Sounds pretty damn good!

It's price is back to $111 now though. I'll look at some reviews until it's back on sale again.

What are you seeing as far as a CPU hit from the plug-in?

Re: $7 strat neck?? black matte with rosewood board - Amazon

I have tracking info too, from roughly the same shipping origin. Even so, I'm not gonna drag out the fret tools just yet... Wow, 2 steps of tracking. Tuesday, February 28 6:31 PM Package left the carrier facility. Quanzhou, Friday, February 24 Carrier picked up the package. 4 necks ordered, they may...

Re: $7 strat neck?? black matte with rosewood board - Amazon

I jumped in for three. I doubt they'll arrive, but what the hell.

If I were going to initiate a scam of this type, I might consider another item. Perhaps something with a wider appeal... Seems odd to pick a guitar neck for bait.

Re: Whats on your work bench?

Finally got the screws in for my Eart headless. Given that the frets are stainless, I restrung with Ernie Ball Cobalts, 09-42, as I felt the tension was a little high before. Got it all together and.....holy schnikes. The action is a smidge low, but the sustain is breathtaking. Through a modeler, i...

Re: F1 in Miami. START YOUR ENGINES!

Miami: Silly "water feature," poor TV/camera placement (could have done with some crow's nests), but really fun looking track. It'll be fun to drive in F1 '22. One of these days, I'll set my mind to finally building a racing gaming rig too. Looks like fun! Well, I have long been an F1 fan ...

I feel bad for my kids. They love the same music I do because the pop out today is terrible. I know most generations think what their kids like is shit, but in their case... it really is. Decent game, tho. Not the best Bowl of Super ever, but certainly not the worst. Stafford gets his, finally. Foot...

Re: Whats on your work bench?

Update: I built one more body out of pallet wood, having decided I wanted one for myself (again). It's strat shaped, and I'm thinking a set of P-rails with my unused Triple Shot rings - or just a dead simple wiring up of the angriest P-90's I can find. The specter of a lefty-flipped strat a'la Joe P...

Re: Anyone ever mod the SX headstock?

I've done plenty of tele style re-shapes. I think Rondo started to subtly change them. After awhile there was less meat on them. I'd go the route explained previously about the cut/glue/cut for a strat shape. Theres good threads on tdpri about it. Yup, the tele shape was possible on older models. I...

Apparently, your remarks about Stafford are shared in Detroit. I saw these shirts advertised:

Pretty cool that fanbase can retain a good sense of humor about their team being relentlessly mediocre year after year.

Re: Guitar 'Work Station"

I agree with TMC, that's made from two sheets of 4x8. I'd use birch plywood. It's strong and easy to finish nicely. With a few feet of t-molding, it would look even better.

I think it should need a little bracing, tho, huh? Looks like it'd be a bit wobbly to me.

On the workbench: Five body blanks made from pallet wood, just as an experiment. Hanging in the shop rafters: Six cut and painted bodies awaiting graphics, or clear, or something. On the shelf, posted for sale: Ten bodies with my usual off-putting style of paint work. In the office: A flying V build...

Re: Squire ‘51 Build

I think it's an unwritten law that makes it illegal to own a perfectly stock Squier '51.

Mine is my favorite player, too. I'd have one in every color if they hadn't gone up in price so much on the used market.

From 1999-2006, I was in a cover band. It looked like this, more or less: M: 9, I loved sounding good. Smooth, flawless performance - or as close as we could get without ruining the fun of it all. Our band was pretty good at this, so much so that it's ruined me for starting/joining other projects. E...

EVH P90s confirmed, in photo form anyway.

On the old board, we had a discussion that somehow turned towards the guitar shown in Van Halen's "Without You" video. We couldn't get a good look at his P90 / Floyd equipped Wolfgang. Well, if you're interested, I ran across this pic yesterday: image0.jpeg Now I definitely want to build o...
