Re: Sawdust, Solder, and Swear Words

So, a different post to show you what was in the WRK300 before I 3D printed the bobbins. Some of the pictures were too large to compress online, but it's an interesting single coil. Reading about gold foils on TDPRI, this looks like a version of it. It was 7.8K, two small ceramic mini humbuckers und...

Re: Sawdust, Solder, and Swear Words

I got a bit snarky there, sorry. I shorten so many Google Drive links at work for documents used by teachers that it's a habit. I compressed a couple pictures. I think (if I read the numbering and if it stays in the post correctly), the first picture is the Mozz wound bobbin that went in the bridge....

Re: Sawdust, Solder, and Swear Words

I'm still waiting on the pics. Let me help you :) https://bit.ly/3frLSfX. Actually, which pictures do you need: the pile of semi-complete PCBs; quarter-finished guitar projects; a picture of my ding-dong 1 year old dog, Beans? :) Actually, the pictures are huge and I think they might break t...

Re: Sawdust, Solder, and Swear Words

Okay, so it's been really hectic the past month-ish. Here's a link to a folder with some fun pictures of the work: https://bit.ly/3frLSfX Accomplishments : No more broken pickup bobbins. Mozz and Buddha's installed, andrewsrea is hanging out waiting for a home. The sound really good. Only problem wa...

Re: Sawdust, Solder, and Swear Words

Update: Mozz's bobbin is in and ready to be wired. I didn't destroy Budda's bobbin, BUT.... the magnets are too long. D'Oh So, I'll have to route a bit of the cavity out to let the magnets fit. All good so far, but this week has been busy (who's hasnt?). I'll have more updates in the future if life ...

Re: Sawdust, Solder, and Swear Words

I think that might have been the issue, coupled with the fact the holes were a really tight fit and I don't think there was enough spacing around where the wind was. I think the tightness of the wind pulled in on the inside of the bobbin and made that end. The first magnet was no trouble. I've enlar...

Re: Sawdust, Solder, and Swear Words

 So, I already get to start with swear words! So, in the bobbin winding thread, I 3D printed 3 toaster-like bobbins to fit under the toaster covers of my wolf wrk300 (was Bubba z's!). The pickups are a weird single coil - I'll get pictures soon. I summoned the great trifecta of wonders: moz...

Sawdust, Solder, and Swear Words

I finally thought of a catchy title to start documenting my idiocy and move the bobbin discussion here. I'll try to document all of my add-riddled, stream of conscious writing, and general tinkering in here. So buckle in weirdos, let's get cracking

Re: Bobbin widing

Got the bobbin from Andrew area, and it looks great.

I sent you a message Tim @Buddha about the bobbin. I'll take care of the magnets - they hadn't arrived.

So, hopefully all goes well for everyone. We'll see how this goes.

Re: Bobbin widing

Oof, that's a huge bummer there mozz.

I like our CNCs at work, but sometimes they're more hassle than what they're worth. Good luck!

Re: Bobbin widing

I go away for a weekend, and there's a million messages. AAAAH! Anyways, @andrewsrea -- sorry about the wire, it was what came off of it. Trash it or reuse it. UGH - hate that. I expect more from myself than to send out garbage for people to use. Please don't think that's what I always do. Second, I...

Re: Bobbin widing

It does, but once it goes in the toaster body housing, they only stand out about .25" from the bottom plate. This is a weird one I need to have fun documenting. :)

Re: Bobbin widing

Not going to cut these magnets! I do have space in the body for them, and the 1" magnets don't protrude as far out as I thought.

Bobbins will be going out this week. You guys are all awesome.

Re: Bobbin widing

I guess I made this super hard? Well, dang. I guess the cut in half with a thin hacksaw will fail. Dangnabbit - need to do my research. I'm such a dummy sometimes. I think I have the space, so I might just leave these alone and order 6 more instead. I think (key word THINK) there's space in that bod...

Re: Bobbin widing

Don't sell yourself short, I have a pair of your firebird pickups ready to go into a project. How do you plan on magnetizing the rod magnets? I found a seller of 1/4" diameter alnico 5 road magnets. Just have to cut them in half, as they are too long. Maybe I need to document this, but I pale i...

Re: Bobbin widing

I'll print the bobbin and have it ready to send out. It's a copy of a Rick toaster pickup internals. I have the 6 holes for the 6 alnico magnets and everything else. Just need the bobbin wound. Basically a bigger strat single coil. Or think of a p90 reduced by 10% or so. I screwed up trying to move ...

Bobbin widing

Is there someone who could wind a bobbin for me to replace the internals of a pickup? I'll 3d print the shape and send it to you. I tried to move the guts over but lost the ends and made it go kaput. It's a single coil in a slightly smaller than P90 (basically a bread warmer guts). I'll show the end...

Re: FS: 1986 Westone Spectrum DX

Link to Westone Spectrum DX pictures here: https://bit.ly/359dUJf (let me know if the link doesn't work for my drive) I'll see about getting a couple pictures of the AD-2200. It's the old style with Gibson horns. I like it, it just needs a bit of work to make it happy. I'm just building/assembling g...

FS: 1986 Westone Spectrum DX

Putting this out here, as I'm working on trying to thin the herd while I continue to assemble/build more. I have a 1986 Westonw Spectrum DC made by Matsumoku (Japan) with the Bendmaster Deluxe temolo. I guess this was a transition time because most Spectrum DX did not have it until the following yea...

Re: PICKGUARDS? Do we have any resident craftsmen?

Weyulllllll..... I do have access to CNC routers at work. And I can kind of use Fusion360. But, it is at work, and I don't know how the $$ flows. And I do have to do my job, not cut things out for my personal profit.... ? If anyone has an image and some details (i.e. pickup dimensions), I might try ...

Re: MIA: AGF Milk carton kids

I'm here. I've just been lurking quite a bit - so much going on, so many projects. Not as much time even though the wife an I were/are working from home (teachers).

Is there any way we can get a 2020 do-over? It's been stupid. (not including pandemics, etc.)
