Thanks for the kind words fellas. Considering the talent in here, these are some flattering comments (well mostly, @mickey )

Re: The Flame Still Burns
Good to see you again @Tsukiyomi! That sounds awesome! Is that you singing? Great job! Thanks mate! No, I wish I could sing like that! it's me on guitar (the outdoor shots). The singer is a seriously talented guy from Liverpool named Gary Brown. He fronts a Led Zep, a Deep Purple and a Small Faces ...

The Flame Still Burns
Hiya gang, hope everyone's staying safe & well! Life's been busy for me for a little while, but here's one of the things I've been up to. Some musician friends from back in Liverpool and I have been working on a couple of projects, this being one of them. It came from an idea to record a song as...

Nice, another one I've played more times than I care to remember. I'm a massive Lizzy fan, so it's always nice to see anything that keeps their spirit alive.

Boss Katana: Building Eddie Van Halen's 'Brown Sound'
This is YouTube's 'DutchGuitarDude' ( https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsJTOBE_gJOY4WEnUdnvJUg ) building on a pre-existing patch for the Boss Katana. I'm not posting this as a critique of whether he's using the right gear/technique/hand wound pickups or whether he's able to blow perfect smoke rings...

Brian Setzer is coming to Reverb
An early version of Brian Setzer's Gretsch Smoke signature, a well-loved '63 Fender Bassman, his T.V. Jones "Grinch" Baritone—these pieces of rockabilly history and more are coming to Reverb. The Official Brian Setzer Reverb Shop opens next Wednesday, August 26, and in it you'll find doze...

Re: Hospital for a week
Hope you're continuing to improve. I only had a mild form but had symptoms for over 3 months that still come and go, though not as bad as they were. Lost an acquiantance, had some family members down with it and one of my (previously fit & active) best friends was on a ventilator for a week. He'...

Re: School restarting in-person instruction 8/17...
My daughter starts Virtual next Monday. It's run by the local school system and it's looking more than a little half-arsed to me. She could stay fully at her Middle School who are doing virtual schooling for 9 weeks then reassessing (though it's likely a hybrid of some days in school, some virtual) ...

Re: New Sub Forum..."As The Knob Turns"?
I'd love to see it return, but I agree that it would have to be a Pez thing. My only concern would be whether there's enough content for it - it seems that that far more used to happen in the old days.

This particular blast from the past was a year before my time, but I've got really fond memories of these from back in the day.

Re: Van Halen Audio from Donington, 8/18/84
Okay so I listen to that and see Picasso, Van Gogh, Clapton... Young, raw talent just steaming out of Ed's ears At the same time I can see why it'd be harder for an average music fan to get into. Have you seen Amadeus? "The ear can hear only so many notes in the course of an hour..." Or w...

Ah, 1984, the good ol' days . . . 89a4b8c9a6b59f9d2b1aff8fc95467e9.jpg 1984-08-25-Van_Halen_Stockholm_Sweden_1984_5.jpg last_3.jpg Okay now Alex's jeans are out of fashion but will come back. They probably still work for walking around Venice Beach. Ed's pants, though... :) Hey, it was the 80s........

Hold on... how were you able to log in? Using your old info? I just tried and I get a message that I'm not registered, though I did put in the request to have my info & account deleted.

Re: Van Halen Audio from Donington, 8/18/84
It was the only time I ever saw Dave with VH and my last Donington until '88 (the one with the deaths, where me and my then GF were right at the very front by the time KISS came on). As another quick aside, I remember everyone and his dog with a copy of Kerrang! in their back pockets or standing ar...

Re: Van Halen Audio from Donington, 8/18/84
Hey @Tsukiyomi I was there too! I remember not being super impressed by VH (I had seen them twice before in better form) but was blown away by AC/DC. The complete lineup for Monsters of Rock 5: Motley Crue Accept (great set) Y&T (good set) Gary Moore (killed!) Ozzy Osbourne VH AC/DC (best that ...

Re: RIP Alan Parker
The Commitments was an amazing flick with fantastic music & musical performances. Parker always seemed to get the best out of people and had a great eye for both 'grit' and realism. My personal favourite of his was Angel Heart which really should have been a bigger (read 'More successful at the ...

Re: Van Halen Audio from Donington, 8/18/84
I was there for this (my first Donington visit had been the year before, mostly for Whitesnake but ZZ Top and Dio were on the bill too) but have never even thought to look for the audio for this before. Cheers for the share, bro

Re: WORST BIRTHDAY OF MY LIFE
Firstly and most importantly, I'm truly sorry for your loss. I'm glad to see you were big enough to admit your feelings and how this has hit you. I still want to say Happy Birthday, even just as an acknowledgement of the day, despite there being nothing happy about it. But I know you know what I mea...
