Re: Les Pauls with P90 - cool?
My opinions and take it for what it's worth is P90s have the distinctive Black Crows tone.

Re: Bridge pickups thoughts
I do think that a ceramic pickup is the best option here. I wish I had the Super Distortion that I took out of one of my LPs years ago that came in it. We'll see...still looking around.

Re: Bridge pickups thoughts
Yes I think I've basically exhausted what I can do with the current set up besides maybe swapping the Al5 mag for a ceramic. I'm not convinced that alone would bring me to where I want to be.

Bridge pickups thoughts
I have one LP where the pickups sound on the dark side. It has 500k pots, orange drop capacitors...std 2v 2T 3 way switching modern wiring. The pickups are a Jazz neck style, JB bridge style, Al5 mags, brass base plates..... Before I had a set of hot PAF style pickups, same base plates....sounded so...

Re: Dean Zelinsky Guitars
A have an import Soltera and it's a really nice playing guitar. I don't love the medium sized frets and the import pickups are ok. I swapped out the ceramic magnet in the neck for an Alnico 2 and the bridge pickup is a Rockfield Turbo proto. I don't love it, but I'll probably hand this one down to m...

Anyone using these at all? It seems that the smaller mini pedals out there are targeted as cab IR pedals, but some have amp as well and the larger multi effects pedals are more full featured. I'm pondering the middle of the road stuff...Hotone Ampero mini, Valeton GP200 etc. How well do they pull re...

I actually have quite a few 6L6GC and EL34 tubes. Not so many preamp tubes, but a few and some retro valves as well.

I saw one of these in blue a few weeks ago on clearance for $199. I thought the frets were very skinny on it. It would definitely be a fun mod platform.

Active pickups 24v mod
Does anyone remember the 24v mod on the other forum? This was the one with the 23a batteries and the 2 pk carrier. I can't remember how to wire them..do you?

Nothing fancy here or new...this one has been in storage for about 4 years. It just needs a little work to be a great player.

Re: Portable Modelers. Waddya got?
I have an now ancient mustang floor which is basically a practice tool for me....I use headphones with it and that's pretty much it. I'm intrigued by the Boss IR-200. Although it really only has reverbs for effects the stock amps and cabs sound nice.

Tech 21 RK5 V1
About a year ago my brother in law sent this pedal to me because he didn't want it anymore and he didn't want to deal with trading it in. Well I finally got to try it in front of my Amelia..this thing is really nice. I'm going to add a tuner and a modulation and set up a nice little small board. RK5...

I have a pitchblack advanced....it does what I need. I'm really thinking about a NUX Flow Tune for a small board since MF has them on sale for BF.

The new SEs are just so good. And they look great. Current pricing basically seals the deal. I'm trying to come up with an excuse to get one.

Re: New Cabinet Day
Do you think that the break in process takes some of the sizzle out of the V30s? I have a 2x12 with V30s and it's almost like there is too much presence in anything I connect to it. For a similar sound without the high end spike I prefer the V type speaker.

Just to insert something here
I have an Ibanez CF-7. It's kind of a take on a TC Electronic Gold SCF, but not as good. Also a Zak Wylde MXR phaser. That is the extent of pedals that I own in this category. As I said...just filling a hole.

Re: Bogner Ecstasy Blue Mini Overdrive
Yep, I've got the Ecstasy Blue, full-sized. It's my go-to overdrive/gain/dirt pedal. But it's really much more than that. I've A/B'd it with many other great overdrives, and nothing can come close to doing what the Bogner Ecstasy Blue does. What it really sounds like is an actual British voiced gui...

Re: Bogner Ecstasy Blue Mini Overdrive
I spent about a few weeks waiting for sweetwater to get stock (best deal at the time) and went back and forth on whether to get the red or the blue, It seemed like there was a little overlap. I'm pleased with my decision.

Bogner Ecstasy Blue Mini Overdrive
I absolutely love this thing. Mega settings....use it on the high gain setting into a clean amp...as a boost with one of the 2 lower gain settings. Very sweet. I had to clear a spot for this one.
