Congrats on the Guild. I love the way mine looks and sounds but alas have finally decided the Guild necks (Most of the semis and full hollows are under .80 at the first fret thickness are too skinny for my picky taste.
I need to get motivated and sell mine.

Re: Question about SEs
I have had 2 SE's and they feel so good and easy to play. I only have the SE Paul's guitar now but recommitted to it by installing some locking tuners. So my answer...go for it.

Re: Vocal mics?
Can't go wrong with Shure. I like some models of AKG . I think one of my favs is the D-88s (discontinued) which is very similar to the SM-58. I also have an AKG P5 that ain't half bad. If you get a decent mic it will last you a loooong time.

Re: What is your end game in buying guitars?
When I gigged I only had 1 electric and 1 acoustic 12. There were/are so many different feature sets to explore. Very easy to let it get out of control and one can only play so many guitars at once. I am down to 10 which is too many but I have (3) earmarked to sell whenever I get my lazy self to pos...

Re: The Firefly Has Landed
Can't imagine not having a 335 style guitar. I was going to buy a Firefly till they changed the horns. I was stuck on the Mickey Mouse ears at the time so I ended uip with a Grote. Lots of upgrades but my buying days had kind of slowed to nothing so why not.

Re: Recent Health Scare
Jeff - Just read this and happy to hear you appear to be OK. I had a heart attack (3rd) at 48 and almost met the maker. They wanted to do a triple bypass but I said no (IN the ER with a Doc I knew nothing about) so they ended up doing a stent once I stabilized, then a year later 2 more. After they d...

Re: Pedal Friendly Tube Amp
Hey Sam glad to hear your wife is doing better. A reissue Ampeg takes pedals quite well and does great cleans. They are all (Jets and Jet II's) very loud. If you need quiet then a small solid state or hybrid is the way to go and most of the modelers really don't need pedals in my estimation. As you ...

I read she had a lung disease from childhood that was chronic and stayed with her. She never drank nor smoked from my understanding. What a beautiful voice and a good looking lady too!

Re: Looking for info on Recording King RO-328
I had two solid wood Recording KIngs. Can't recall the model but both experienced the bridge pulling up. One I had professionally repaired and it pulled up again. Nice looking, sound good and fun to play. Oh they were 12 fretters. But I would look at a solid wood import Guild first or if you are wil...

Re: Speaker Selection for a Frontman 15R/25R Conversion
I have owned a few 4x12's and 2x12's. My preference these days is two separate 1x12 cabs utilizing a different flavor for each. Maybe a Fender/Jensen in one and a Vox/Celestion in the other. I do not run them simultaneously but each on it's own. Helps eliminate same sound tedium.

Re: How did I let it get so bad...
Why are so many folks stressing over a 1099 from Reverb and paying taxes? Aren't the taxes on gains (profit) from the sale. I keep receipts or notes on all expenses associated with the purchase of a guitar. I purchased guitars for my personal enjoyment and never really made any money (after upgrade...

Re: How did I let it get so bad...
CcHOCOL8 - Small Fish. I agree 100% and it is up to the seller to show what the cost basis of the sale was. The IRS does not have enough staff to focus a LOT of energies on this I don't believe. But if they do what would you like me to bring you in jail? Only kidding...

Re: PayPal Alert
Would like to avoid the "political side" of this argument if possible but if you bought a guitar for $1,000 and put $200 into it, then sold it for $800 why would you owe taxes?
