Re: How many of you use minimalistic pedalboards?

For me it depends on the situation... - Recording, Learning songs or general practice? - 0 (I use an Eleven Rack w/ Headphones) - Goofing around for fun? - 0 (Guitar into various amps) - Travel to friend's house or to sit in on occasion? - 4 (Tuner, OD, Dist, Delay on a Pedal train mini) - Full 3+ h...

Re: Good budget Tele with good balance / no neck dive?

Wow, the one attribute I never put a passing thought to Teles was neck dive. I have 3 at the moment (Older headstock SX, Fender MiM and Douglas) and they're all extremely well balanced. If you like the SX except for the neck dive, maybe see if you can find a cheap older headstock SX on the used mark...

Sounds awesome! It's songs like this I have to resist having on in the car as I find myself wanting to slam the gas pedal down when they come on! :) Definitely some killer playing!

Re: Where is everyone ?

For the most part, working like crazy - between work and home, so many things going on it's hard to find time to even remember to check in. :( Finding time to play can be rough too. I'd like to think things will return to "normal" but where I work I have a feeling temporary workload may be...

Re: Whats your' latest gear acquisition?

The common theme here is that you seem to have a great wife! I don't know much about pianos, but that LP Classic looks fantastic in that color with the Zebra pickups. She's fantastic, definitely! She even drove an hour away and waited outside when the store opened since she was afraid it would sell...

Re: Tons of Behringer pedals for $19 at Sweetwater

I just ordered an inexpensive Behringer mic, because it got pretty good reviews. We'll see how it is. Honestly, my requirements are basically "anything that will let me record some vocals or amps and not sound like complete dooky", so it will probably be fine. If this doesn't work out, I ...

Re: Whats your' latest gear acquisition?

I had a good holiday... first, my wife got me a Kawai EP3 Digital Piano (from a music store closing), then I figured with the year we had, I'd do something nice for myself (wife approved, btw!) and bought a 2020 Gibson LP Classic in my favorite color.

Damn... get busy and not check the forum in a while and then see this. While I didn't know Bob personally, you could tell from his posts he had a great sense of humor and a very caring nature. Godspeed, Bob and my heartfelt condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.

Re: What is your favorite Agile model?

I voted the AL as out of the Agiles it's my favorite model. Out of the AL models I like the ones with mother of pearl inlays best.

Of course out of all the Rondo guitars I've owned (Al-4000, 2 AL-3100's, SX STL-P90, 3 Douglas Spads and a Douglas Gravity P90), I like the Douglas Spads the most.

Re: GT-8 again...direct to poweramp

Yeah, you have to use MIDI for transfers. Of course - if you can get a GT-100 for instance on the cheap - and they can be had for as low as maybe around 100-140 bucks - it's obviously a better choice. The GT-8 is indeed dated in both its DI guitar sound capabilities as well as editing ease. But you...

Re: GT-8 again...direct to poweramp

Every recording I've made has been with my GT-8 and yes, you do have to mess around to get the sounds you want, (gosh those presets are just terrible!) but I use mine constantly - usually with headphones though. For a homemade cab, that sounds very good! I'm impressed! I' haven't had as much success...

I've tried sooo many picks over 30 years of playing including V-Picks, Gravity, wood, metal, all shapes, all sizes, all thicknesses, and even those monster thick suckers... I've settled on standard Fender sized Planet Waves Cortex picks 1 - 1.5 mm. They feel the best, sound the best and last the lon...

Not sure how to put this but you probably didn't sound better after a few drinks. I've heard tapes from a few of Nashville's famous "all night guitar pulls" and they tend to be extremely funny because they sound so bad but the participants obviously think they sound WONDERFUL! :D  :r...

Re: What is the dumbest, most asinine theory/belief you personally hold about guitars in general?

This one always bothered me and I'm not sure how to explain it but it's related to how one day you play your rig and it sounds glorious and the next day you play the same rig, same guitar, same settings, same songs and the tone just is terrible. I honestly believe that what you hear is influenced by...

Re: Gigging, Drunks & requests

My favorite drunk request story: On our very first gig we got the the bar early, did our setup and and sound check. The bar had only a few bar flies who had been there all day camped on what I'm sure were their regular bar stools... After we were done, one of them drunkenly walks up and says that wa...

If the "car" was actually a top tier touring bike I'd head out to the next Sturgis in South Dakota. That was a bucket list item of mine until I had to sell my Electra Glide.
