Re: Bridge pickups thoughts

Some guitars just have an inherently dark tonality. Obversely, I have one Les Paul in particular, a Gibson 60s Standard, which is extremely bright. My struggle with that instrument has been to attenuate the highs. I've dealt with is through careful pickup choice, keeping the tone knobs rolled back,...

I just don't want shrill or harshness. I want something to give me some good gain with clarity.

You'd think there would be more Youtube videos about these, but I've only seen a few. one in particular makes these sound Fanatastic! Any experience with them here? Especially through some dirt? I have a Fender Tele FMT that came with a Seymour Duncan 59 neck and Pearly Gates bridge... absolutely LO...

Re: Dean Zelinsky Guitars

I bought a used Tagliere, which is their Strat clone with the z-glide neck. I didn't hate it, and I don't think it will actually wear that much, it's carved pretty deeply, and the point is to reduce the friction, so unless you're wearing sandpaper on your palms, it's not going to wear smooth for man...

Re: New GC direction

we have the "Platinum Room" for the high end stuff, and they have everything in there pad locked so even if you can touch it, you can't pick up or play it. Some really nice things, too, like a couple PRS Private stocks ($13k+ for a dragon's breath one, but they've had it for years), and a ...

Re: Whats on your work bench?

This one scratch build is taking me forever, mainly because i can only work on it a few minutes at a time. Now it's to the stage where there's a lot of waiting in between steps, like letting coats and epoxy cure. Here's the top after a seal coat of shellac. I'll sand this back before I do any clear ...

Re: New Toy en-route!!! :D

The problem with new Vettes these days is they want to charge about $100,000 MORE than I am willing to pay. Nah, i got this for WAY less than that! LOL https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52652771679_c4c4689fd3_h.jpg Care to name the dealer where you got it? The ones around here are adding $30,000 ...

that is really awesome, cudos to you and your son! I'm building some solid body guitars, and I want one of my kids to want to build one too... my oldest is starting to want to do some woodworking, so maybe I can corral him in sometime.

Re: New Toy en-route!!! :D

My next door neighbor is 83 years old. He had a 1972 Vette with less than 500 miles on it. He gave it to his son a couple of years ago and bought himself a new anniversary 2023 model. That thing is like a rocket ship. The problem with new Vettes these days is they want to charge about $100,000 MORE...

I just looked at my local's inventory... they have a Eart LP style for $499!!!! It would take way more than 10% off to get that down off the wall. I think they usually sell new for about $150 on Amazon LOL

edit... I also just saw an old Dean Thoroughbred for $899, down from $999 haha

Can we swap up the draft order? Every year I'm drafting 8th... I just feel it would be more fair if it changed every year... or am I confused as usual? LOL

I know, its just not how I expected the transaction to go. I went back to their website, but I can't find anything that says they do it that way.

Has anyone sold to Chicago Music before? Ship before paid?

So I thought I'd try Chicago Music Exchange's online buying program. I've been to the store 1 time, completely amazed at what they had, so I think they're trustworthy, I mean, they did start Reverb, right? Anyway, they made an offer on my PRS, I accepted. But they want me to ship them the guitar bef...

Re: Guitar Center experience

I've sold quite a few things to GC over the years, definitely easy, just never expect too much. They go to ebay sold listings, find the cheapest one that is similar that sold, then offer you 60% of that. If it's something somewhat rare, you may do better than that, but that's even more rare. As long...

Will one of the old timers please correct me if I'm wrong, but I have a vague recollection of a story about the Harm as it relates to the original Agile Guitar Forum. As best as I can remember it, before the original AGF existed there was a contingent of Rondo and Agile aficionados at Harmony Centr...

I am still working through the stash of the Reverb branded Snark knockoffs that they sold for $2.97 each during a sale. Back in the good ol' days when AGF'ers used to share deals and pile on when they came up - like the $159 AL-2000 frenzy :-) I think I bought 10 of these and they have been dispers...

so my Friedman Pink Taco V2 is almost perfect for me. It's got that "on the record" Marshall sound that most marshall's don't have or you can't get. You know, you hear a tone on a recorded song, and you know exactly what amp they used, but you can't get any Marshall to reproduce it... Wel...

That sucks. It's never happened to mine... but I still can't get the battery to last beyond one tuning. I can charge it up fully, use it to tune, turn it off, and the next time I need to tune, its dead as a hammer.

I have the Valeton GP200, which while nice, I think I'm more like you and prefer the simpler, more analog approach. I've also thought about the Cerebus, but would like to try one out... I'm just not really into pedals that much, and I'd only use maybe 2 effects - Reverb and delay, and I'm pretty pic...
