Thanks for keeping the site up! I don't visit as often as I used to, but it's still part of my regular rounds.

I wish I was right behind you. I'm trying to talk the wife into retiring a bit early and moving back to Texas with the family. Good for you. Be safe on the road.

Re: Thinking about selling an early Agile Les Paul

^^^ Hey Patrick good to hear from you!

I'll pile onto the "I've still got..." list. I've had an older 3500 for quite a while that I bought used a ridden pretty hard. Cleaned up well and plays great.

Re: SX Hawk RN Stop TP

I went to see the Who tour recently. Pete pulled out a strat equipped with P90's at one point in the show and it had the most fantastic growl. I forget what song, but my buddy and I both looked at each other with raised eyebrows when he rocked that guitar. It made me understand suddenly...

Enjoying watching you do the work :) Getting the bug to put together another tele myself. I bought a set of Bootstrap pickups to see how I like them. Curious to see how you like your pickups in that guitar.

Re: Mitchell guitars anybody? Just found them...

I've played numerous acoustics. they are ridiculously cheap compared to Yamaha, etc. And I haven't played one that disappointed me yet, so I don't understand the low prices for them, especially used. I am not familiar with the electrics.

Re: Sawtooth Teles under $100 shipped on Amazon

The only thing that weirds me out is that the neck seems to have a very deep pocket on some of those pics. Looks like the end of the fretboard is touching the neck pickup, and the neck intersects the cutout at about the 3rd fret in (as opposed to about the 2nd fret on say an SX). Other than that.......

I think it would work fine. But agreed - individual follow up dressing will likely be required. If it was me, I think I'd just go slow and dress each one individually.

Re: NGD!! The SX Strat-copy has arrived!

I remember those, the hook headed versions. That goes back a way. Looks to be in overall good shape. I'd be 50/50 about adjusting that neck or just playing it. If you ever take the pickguard off, would be curious to see if the neck is sitting askew in the pocket, or it's snug and just a crooked pock...

Re: Yamaha LL26

You're killing me with these posts. I've been eyeballing the LS16 and LS16m models for a while now. I'm not quite ready to jump into 2k+ yet for a 26 series, but I may get the 16 series before the year is up. Sure would be nice to handle one of these in person though.

Congratulations on your find!

I had one back in the late 1980's. The first real guitar I ever had. It got stolen soon thereafter and I've been tempted to buy another one ever since then.

Yeah that's it! They invested a lot of tie on the design work on that guitar. I wonder who really made it.

Do I disremember, as Mickey would put it, or was there an acoustic Agile Tree Of Life way on back? I was thinking of that model the other day out of the blue.

I thought about the glue, but man this fret was a tight fit already. If I do any future fret repairs on this guitar I'll just wick some glue into all the frets.

Miscellaneous fret levelling pictures, along with (awful) nut cleanup. I need to fill and redrill tailpiece holes. Really bad placement from the factory and it causes the tailpiece to rub against the body.

IMG_4760.JPG To get the nut out, I used the flush trimmers to basically wedge and lift the fret up. IMG_4759.JPG IMG_4761.JPG I didn't get a picture of how I pressed the fret back in after trimming the excess tang material from the bottom, but I made this 13 inch radius block to use with a clamp to...

My first fret removal and fix

After watching the Beatles documentary recently, I got to jonesing for a Casino type guitar. But I'm cheap and didn't want to spend much. Long story short, picked up an Xaviere XV-910. I've heard good things about the GFS dog ear P90's. They had a natural XV-910 blem for a good price. The main blem ...
