Re: I broke up with my Sweetwater rep, LOL

I prefer Zzounds, I’ve had good experiences with sweetwater and everything. It’s just the few times I’ve talked to a rep, it’s been like talking to a starving hyena while holding a piece of meat. And zzounds will price match without all of the theatrics and they’ve always taken decent care of me as ...

Re: What Makes Up Your Current Gig Rig?

I haven’t gigged since before my son was born, but I’m still wearing out the Orange OR15|EVH 1x12 with a tube screamer clone in front setup. Almost exclusively playing the Gibson Mustaine V, I think I’ve picked up the LTDs a couple of times at most. But the boy just turned one recently, and he alway...

If you really want to swap the nut you could probably get away with some painters tape or masking tape and using an xacto knife or razor blade to cut a seam between the nut and finish.

But killer score dude!

Re: What is your end game in buying guitars?

No goal, I just like having the options, even if I only actually play one or two most of the time, it’s still nice to have basically a small guitar shop to browse and check out. Have you seen Jay Leno’s garage? I don’t think he really has an end game or reason for having as many cars as he does othe...

Re: I need a wrap around bridge **Metric**

I’m not sure if they still do or not, but Wilkinson used to make a decent one for around $20-$30.

Also saw a fancy Gibson one the other day that was basically just the locking bridge section of a Floyd Rose, no clue on the price, but I’m sure it’s up there lol.

Re: Favorite Beer poll

I really don’t have a favorite beer. I guess I’ve drank more PBR than anything at this point. Yeungling is solid though. I’m usually a fan of some sort of local-ish cider. Cider Boys has(had?) a really good blueberry one in the spring/summer, that’s probably my favorite. Although I had a really good...

Nice grab, happy NGD!! For some reason I didn’t even register the striped veneer until I read the part where you mentioned it. Still looks killer! Also fun fact about Gibson strings and D’Addario; D’Addario makes Gibson’s strings these days, but to “Gibson Spec”. Found that out when I was trying fig...

Re: cheap-guitar.com experience?

I’ve never used thomann, but I agree with your disdain after watching video from the YouTuber KDH and some issues he had with a Harley Benton. Long story short they said the guitar with non-functionally microphonic pickups was “as it should be” and refused him a replacement, and maybe even a refused...

Guitar>Tubescreamer clone>Amp
That’s my jam session, band practice, mindless riffing/noodling, and gigging setup.

Re: What's your current pedalboard look like?

Hasn’t changed in like a decade. But I did lose my patch cables so I’m just not using the UltimateDrive or Wah anymore, not that they really got a ton of use before, but they’re basically entirely neglected and just on there as a formality now. Modtone mini tube screamer clone is still going strong ...

Re: Are you the only proficient musician in your close family?

My Pappaw (mom’s dad) played before I was born, he kinda quit at some point but sometimes you can get him to play a lick if you hand him a guitar. Mammaw (mom’s mom) sang on WLJC semi-often, when her friend Margaret would invite/convince her. That’s it for my Moms side, and idfk about dads side, I’v...

I still have pretty much all of the same gear related stuff on my proverbial workbench.
But I’m currently babysitting a 5,000,000 BTU boiler in a mechanical room because the skimmer valve on the line doesn’t work so we’re manually skimming it through the season lol. Only an hour and 15 minutes left 😄

I’ve just been breaking in my Dad skills, he’ll be 6 weeks old on Monday. The last day of my parental leave is tomorrow so I’ll be back at work, it’s basically chill season for my department though so I’ll more than likely just be riding around campus doing nothing and probably take my steam deck in...

It’s definitely gonna be something along those lines Partscaster . Or maybe he’ll pick up a word from a song by The Doors, he really vibes them so I try to put a record or two on pretty often. I’d like to also go ahead and say, all of the dads on here really buried the lead on how great of an experi...

Been a little busy lately

Well as the title says, I’ve been pretty busy lately. Moved on the 1st, my baby boy was born on the 10th, and we’re still trying to settle into the new place. I’ve gotten the living room and kitchen mostly set up, bedroom and nursery are also mostly set up and useable. The office and decorations aro...

Now I gotta get a copy of the vinyl for my collection, I’d definitely be trying to get it signed by everyone if they’d just come anywhere nearby and do a signing.

Re: MARSHALL PLEXI INCOMING

I absolutely dwarfed my old death metal bandmates 100 watt Fender half stack with my OR15 through my EVH112, he was at the cusp of being cranked and I was barely over 2 or 3 (numerically, not o'clock). So I'd wager that you should be fine volume wise.

Re: Rattlesnake Cables

Well I had to adjust the EQ on my amp for sure, I had the treble cranked, and boy the Thrash Factor in the Gibson is waaay brighter through the Orange than I first perceived, and the slight fuzzy overdrive sound I was experiencing when really laying into it, well it's a bit more muchier. I pretty mu...
