Re: THE ROMAN SPRING of toomanycats (UPDATE, THE END, APRIL 2024)
Perhaps the most amazing thread in AGF history. What a beautifully painted picture of the experience of life, music, and professionalism or a lack thereof! Reading your experiences makes one feel so alive, Cats. My own were limited, but I did tour with a major theater group before getting into guita...

Before Van Halen was...The Dils?
For as sensitive as Eddie was about his intellectual property, it looks like it wasn't his to begin with.

Re: Agile: Blackie Lawless?
It has been too long since a little "Walk in the Night Air" on AGF. Tone seeker of tube levels! OMG! You know the actual name of the song! You'll get a 10% earned experience point bonus at the end of this adventure. D&D was the peak of AGF. Never once achieved the same engagement. Hec...

Re: Agile: Blackie Lawless?
https://www.mylespaul.com/threads/wasps-blackie-lawless-using-agile-on-stage.92673/ What model would that be? An Agile AD? Looks like an old AD-2500. Could only find the lefty version of the black flame on Rodno, but it looks identical, right down to the first fret block inlay. https://www.rondomus...

Re: Agile: Blackie Lawless?
Looks close, but I don't think it is an Agile. It has square inlays. An Agile would have the trapezoid inlays. I saw this headstock on some other brand recently. Whatever is was and Agile are both probably made in the same factory. AFAIK, I was the first person to order custom block inlays. After I...

Re: ANALYSIS OF A ROCK GUITAR GOD
A little late to this thread, but yeah, DeMartini was always criminally underrated, IMHO. I think his reputation was hurt to some degree by being in a hair metal band (and one that wasn't as successful as some others). Someone once speculated to me that his reputation was also hurt by the recent de...

Re: Warrant - live vs. session musician
Some interesting analysis there, but ultimately I don't think anyone should be surprised. I mean, yeah, there's this cult of legitimacy, but the truth is that there's a lot going on in the studio, and the use of session musicians is part of it. IIRC, most of Aerosmith's early solos were not Joe Per...

Re: All Roads Lead To The Tele
Rotfl. Can you show any evidence at all of what you're claiming other people said? Can you be a decent human being and say you didn't mean to be a pedophile? I just couldn't watch the entire video you posted because the guy was kinda a blow-hard. But even he said teles are their own thing and don't...

Re: All Roads Lead To The Tele
Thanks Steven McPedo Rock. 😂 I really appreciate how a single one of your posts showed how Teles don't work for rock. The Yardbirds never existed, for example. I don't enjoy engaging trolls, so I ignore most of what you say. But if your ears fail to get all the nuances players get out of other guit...

We understand you're a pedophile. You're not going to chase, but you're still replying? I've given your IP and name to the local PD. I take you quite seriously. You're not a troll once you target my sisters. But how come you couldn't stay on topic about what Teles can't and can't do? Let's keep pla...

Re: All Roads Lead To The Tele
So... You gonna show some clips of Teles failing at rock yet, or what? 😁 You don't read well. I already told you I wasn't going to chase evidence of the obvious. So are you just trolling? ^^^ I'm just going to leave that there as I'm not interested in pointless arguments and just learned about the Des Moines tornado. I have friends there to check in with. Re: All Roads Lead To The Tele
Cool, mate. Is plenty a number? I'm too old to count the years back. Plenty suffices. If you don't do metal, why can you speak to it? I didn't do your sister, but I could speak to her. The OP showed the ultimate in 80s metal guitarists and explicitly how they relate to Teles. How could I be t...

Re: What replaced your Agiles?
Nothing has replaced mine. My goal had always sort been to not duplicate anything I owned. I broke that rule early in to finding Rondo when I got an AS-820 B-stock and loved it so much that I needed the AS-1000. I have since sold the 820 to a friend. I also bought a second fender Stratocaster while...

Re: All Roads Lead To The Tele
How many years of experience do you have using Teles for rock and metal? Confronted with proof, why attack the man instead of the argument? Can you refute the video evidence of why Teles fit metal well? I have plenty of experience using teles and many other types in rock. I don't do metal, so I don...

Re: All Roads Lead To The Tele
He who has ears, let him hear. Generally, I like to speak from experience. :) We all have experience (and ears). Trying to assert otherwise is ignorant. Maybe TDPRI would be a better place to take it. How many years of experience do you have using Teles for rock and metal? Confronted with proof, wh...

Re: All Roads Lead To The Tele
I mean a Tele can't do Strato-quack or Humbucker tones, but that's beside the point. Musically there's nothing a straight vintage SS Telecaster can't do. Even with the single coils they'll do hard rock or even metal no problem, provided you got the amp/rig for it. It just sounds like you're saying ...

Re: All Roads Lead To The Tele
I spend plenty of time with teles, but I can't say they're my favorites, or even the basis of rock and roll. They get there, they are elegant, but there are so many more tones they can't do, and frankly it's not the most comfortable shape. They're great, but they're far from "the thing". ...

Re: All Roads Lead To The Tele
Just pulled my '69 Thinline Reissue out to play, yesterday. A good Telly is like being naked: good or bad - it all hangs out. It really is! All my other guitars with their humbuckers are extremely forgiving. Flub it a bit, still sounds fine. But I wish my Tele were wired up for that reason. You're ...
