Re: On A Mission To Bring hbowner/vesa Back Here
Who thumbs downed this? Lol I think @mickey might have had some friction with hbowner at the very end when he requested to be banned. No, I always felt y'all were taking advantage of a mentally retarded guy & it never seemed right to me. Just my 2 cents. In all seriousness, I don't believe he i...

On A Mission To Bring hbowner/vesa Back Here
Not too long ago SalteeDog mentioned the Harley Benton forum and how he saw hbowner/vesa over there. I had forgotten that there was a Harley Benton forum. So this morning I went over to The Harley Benton Club and joined the forum. Please don't think of it as cheating on ya'll or a...

Re: NGD-Gibson SG 70's Tribute (I did a bad thing)
Beautiful Gibby! How are the fret ends? Myself and others here have Gibson SG Tributes with very sharp fret ends. Mine is a 60s tribute and I like it very much, though only after I got the fret ends smoothed. Regarding the pickguard, I say none. I like the stripped down look. HNGD! Must be they do ...

Re: Weirdest toggle switch placement in history
I'm trying rationalize the possible justification for that design selection. The way the edge of the body is routed likely prevented them from putting the output jack there, so that had to be placed at the top. Where they did put the output jack is where the toggle usually is on a guitar configured ...

Re: PRS SE General Observations
I own one PRS SE, and it's the only one I've ever owned. I've have however played others at music stores and pawn shops. It's often said that PRS guitars are lifeless, and I've gotta say that I don't totally disagree with that. Most that I've played don't have that open, airy, breathy, alive sound t...

Re: AGF Pedal Builders - Looking For A Fuzz
mozz is your man. I've got three of his fuzz pedals, all with the germanium transistors, and they are all definitely TMC approved. I used his Fuzz Tone Fuzz Face clone recently at a gig and it delivers the Hendrix tone big time. I'm using Mozz's Fuzz Tone on this song in several d...

Yeah, listening to the isolated guitar track is an great exercise. The tones and arrangement ate classy, especially the tone on the solo! Very tasty, It's an amazing peek into the creative process of making that song. It's so cool how you can hear the the bleed through of the other instruments on t...

Re: And This Why The Car's Elliott Easton Is a Frickin' Genius
I've listened to quite a lot of isolated guitar tracks on YouTube. The EVH, Warren DeMartini/Robin Crosby, and Randy Rhoads uploads have generally been my favorites. Do you see a trend here? Yeah, they're all hard rock/metal players. That's why it may be surprising that I'm singling out Elliott Eas...

@toomanycats I don't think I ever knew he played on that! Thanks for telling me - I knew there was a reason I always liked that song. I think he actually is still playing that same strat these days. Jesus. Cy is even in the video! How did I miss this for decades? He plays on Tina's entire Private D...

Re: And This Why The Car's Elliott Easton Is a Frickin' Genius
Easton is a GREAT guitar player...I’ve always liked him. I’m also fascinated by New Wave guitar playing...its it’s own thing...you can’t overshadow the vocals and synth, and sometimes it’s aggressive, but not metal or overly bluesy at all. Definitely punk, yet subdued. I love it. Listen to the guit...

Re: And This Why The Car's Elliott Easton Is a Frickin' Genius
I did read once people who saw them back in the day said it was the most boring concert they ever saw, the band just stood there and played but did every hit exactly note for note like the radio. This live performance from 1978 is pretty compelling. Great charisma and musicianship. https://youtu.be...

Major Tom can easily be contacted, if you know a bit of French and geography... I'd be surprised if Major Tom was still involved. He had been working with MOMO for several months prior and probably had fulfilled his contractual obligation to them the day of his last post. While I can't tell the las...

Re: First Foray Into Vinyl in 21 Years
Got the itch to get back into vinyl recently. Set up my new turntable last night, hit the record store today, and started with these. A near mint 1979 pressing of Cheap Trick at Budokan, a 1981 pressing of Van Halen Fair Warning, and a sealed, virgin, never spun 1978 pressing of The Cars debut reco...
